Nobody needs 400 bar tools

CALLMINI sells twenty nine things. A shaker, a strainer, a jigger, a spoon, some glasses and the ice equipment to go with them. That is a home bar, and the reason the range stops there is that we could not justify the thirtieth.

Why the range is small

Most bar tool shops sell the same catalogue as each other, several hundred items deep, and the depth is the problem. Eleven jiggers are not eleven choices, they are one choice made difficult. We looked at what a person actually reaches for when they make a drink at home and bought the best version of each thing, once.

What that leaves is four ranges. Shake and strain, measure and stir, glassware, and ice and service. Each one is a complete set. You can buy a single piece to replace something you broke, or a range at a time and have a bar that works.

What every product page tells you

The thing that frustrated us most when buying bar equipment was not knowing what would turn up. A “large” mixing glass could be four hundred millilitres or eight hundred. A muddler described as wooden could be lacquered, which you do not want in a drink. So we publish the same fields on every product, every time:

Material	What it is made of, and specifically what touches the drink
Capacity	In millilitres and fluid ounces, measured to the fill line rather than the brim, on everything that holds liquid
Dimensions	Height, diameter or length, measured with handles and spouts included
Weight	Empty, on our own scale, because weight is how a tool feels in the hand

Where a spec is not published it is because it does not apply, not because we did not measure it.

How we pack

We hold stock in a small warehouse in the United States and pack every order by hand. Glassware goes into moulded pulp, not foam peanuts, and then into a carton with the void filled by paper. Orders placed before 2pm Mountain Time go out the next business day, and shipping is free with no minimum, to any US address.

Occasionally something still arrives broken. When it does we replace it from a photograph, without asking you to send the pieces back.

What we will not do

• We do not run permanent sales. The price on the product page is the price, and it does not double the week before a discount.
• We do not pay for reviews and we do not remove the unflattering ones.
• We do not sell your details. Our privacy policy says so in plain terms and the list of who we share data with is four lines long.
• We do not stock anything that plugs in. If it needs a motor, we are not the right shop.

Buying your first set?

Email us and say what you drink and how many people you make drinks for. We will tell you which four or five pieces to start with, which is usually a tin set, a Hawthorne, a jigger, a bar spoon and a pair of glasses, and we will tell you which of the expensive things you do not need yet.
